Position: Bookkeeper (Remote)

A rapidly expanding local and international accounting and consultancy firm is seeking to employ a vibrant and ambitious Bookkeeper. Though this is a remote position, the firm has local offices in London, the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town and the Garden Route.

This is a good role for someone with bookkeeping experience, preferably in a practice environment, wanting to gain further experience withing an accounting practice with ample opportunities to receive on the job training and the strong possibility for growth within the business.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the bookkeeping of a portfolio of clients under the supervision of senior accountants, managing of senior accountant workflows, liaising with clients, requesting and gathering documentation, and other related duties, supporting both the South African and UK offices.

The firm is looking for ethically sound candidates, wanting to perform tasks the right way first time around and someone who wants a long-term career at the firm.

Training will be provided on all required duties as listed below.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping up to trial balance.
  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department.
  • Assist with reconciliations.
  • Payroll preparation.
  • Statutory reporting.
  • Requesting of financial documents.
  • Updating financial records.
  • Sorting and filing of financial records.
  • Preparing reports.
  • Client liaison.
  • Client service delivery and query resolution.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new clients.
  • Updating and maintaining of existing client records.
  • Correspond with clients re their accounts, balances and payments.
  • Data capture and data collection.
  • System updates.
  • Scheduling meetings and managing calendars.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric with solid results.
  • Diploma, degree, certificate in finance or related field will be advantageous.
  • Bookkeeping or accounting experience in an accounting firm.
  • Accounting administration related experience.
  • Working experience on accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Pastel.
  • Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook proficiency preferred.

Remuneration:

  • R15,000 to R25,000 pm ctc, depending on qualification and experience.
