Basic FunctionThe Supervisor – Renewable Project Accounting is responsible for timely and accurate accounting over SB Energy utility‑scale renewable solar and storage projects. The role involves financial data management, journal entries, account reconciliations, monthly and quarterly close tasks, internal controls, and oversight of a team of junior/senior accountants. It also requires liaison with external auditors and adherence to US GAAP.
Responsibilities- Execute the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close process within defined time frames.
- Account for intercompany billings between operating parent entities and underlying projects.
- Develop strong relationships with project managers to ensure accurate ledger entries.
- Assist in preparation of consolidated accounting and financial reporting requests.
- Maintain lease accounting data (ASC 842) monthly.
- Ensure all required reports and supporting documentation for internal controls are approved and retained.
- Prepare periodic comparative variance analyses.
- Communicate with Structured Finance, Projects, and Operations & Maintenance teams to ensure accurate financial statements.
- Complete general accounting tasks as assigned.
- Perform analytical functions required for an accurate and timely general ledger month‑end close.
- Research and document technical accounting issues in accordance with US GAAP.
- Collaborate with independent external auditors on the annual audit of affiliated entities.
- Respond to ad‑hoc requests from key stakeholders.
- Identify and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures, including SOX.
- Perform all work with high effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 5 years in general accounting; audit experience is required.
- 1–3 years supervisory experience.
- CPA preferred.
- SOX compliance experience preferred.
- Experience in project accounting within engineering, construction, or the energy industry preferred.
- Familiarity with financial reporting for renewable power plants and the nuances of renewable energy tax incentives.
- ERP system experience required;
Net Suite preferred. Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and Microsoft Office products. - Detail‑oriented, adaptable to changing requirements.
