About the Role
Are you an experienced accounting professional ready to take the next step in your career? Our client—a well-established and steadily growing real estate investment and development firm—is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join their Birmingham team.
This newly created senior role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, oversee property accounting for a diverse portfolio, and collaborate closely with talented, supportive professionals. You’ll gain broad exposure to real estate accounting, participate in strategic initiatives, and enjoy flexibility with hybrid work after training.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee property-level accounting, including general ledger activity, bank reconciliations, and reporting
- Prepare accurate financial statements, variance analyses, and performance reports for management
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes for assigned properties
- Partner with development, property management, and asset management teams on active projects
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Support audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Mentor junior accounting team members and contribute to process improvements
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
- 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate or property accounting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and property accounting best practices
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar property management systems a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive independently while collaborating in a team-oriented environment
