Property Accountant

Our client—a well-established and steadily growing real estate investment and development firm—is adding a Property Accountant to their Birmingham team.

This is a newly created role driven by company growth, offering the chance to make an impact while working alongside talented, supportive professionals. You’ll gain exposure to multiple aspects of real estate accounting, enjoy mentorship from experienced leaders, and have the flexibility to work from home a few days each month after training.

• Handle day‑to‑day accounting for a portfolio of properties, including general ledger activity and bank reconciliations
• Maintain accurate property‑level financials and assist with month‑end and year‑end close
• Prepare financial statements and performance reports for management
• Partner with development, property management, and asset management teams to support active projects
• Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
• Support annual audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1+ years of accounting experience (real estate or property accounting a plus)
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar systems preferred
• Detail‑oriented, organized, and eager to contribute in a team‑oriented environment
