Vice President at Nature's Select Pet Food

Nature’s Select Pet Food in Brea, CA is looking for an experienced bookkeeper to start immediately - ASAP or by January 21st 2026.

  • We are a small family owned business providing healthy pet food direct to consumers since 1994.
  • This position would be a full-time position Monday through Friday 5 days a week. Hours of 8am to 3:30pm PST. Office located at 590 W Central Ave, Suite F, Brea CA 92821. Open to work-from-home one day a week on Fridays once established in the position.
  • Starting Salary - $25-35 hourly rate or higher based on experience.

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Highly experienced and proficient with Quickbooks Online - vendors, general journal entries, invoicing, must know Chart of Accounts, issuing monthly reports for P&L, balance sheets, and other financial reports as requested by management, etc.
  • ADP for Bi-Weekly Payroll
  • Online Banking (check for money posted, update forecast, etc)
  • Invoicing Customers
  • Printing Checks
  • Office Filing to Stay Organized
  • Credit Card Reconciliation for Business
  • Monthly Bank Account Reconciliation in QBO
  • Experience with Sales Tax Reports for CA and other states is ideal.

Nice to Have Requirements:

  • Familiar with various apps we use for weekly processes:
    Tax Jar, A2X to upload Shopify dollars to QBO, Pay Traqer by saasant to upload Stripe transactions to QBO
  • Walmart/Amazon/Doordash/Public Sq Payouts
  • Upload Daily Deposits using  for capturing cc charges for services/products charge for wholesale dollars only

As a small family owned company, we’ve had the same person working for us in this position handling our day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities for over 12 years and moving on to a new opportunity. While we’re sad to see her go we are excited to hire someone eager to learn, willing to improve upon certain processes and help make our overall processes easier where possible.

The scope of work is extensive but many pieces of the job can be automated and/or improved upon. Note that we are open to hiring a Junior assistant to help with any day to day or weekly responsibilities as needed at a later date once this new person is comfortable in the new role.

About the Role:

The Bookkeeper plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health and accuracy of our company by managing all aspects of financial record-keeping. This position ensures that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely, supporting the preparation of financial statements and reports. The Bookkeeper will oversee accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, and general ledger maintenance to provide a clear and comprehensive view of the company’s financial status.

Ultimately, this role is essential for maintaining the integrity of financial data and facilitating smooth financial operations within the company.

We are looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support our financial operations on a full-time basis
. This role requires someone who can work independently with minimal supervision
, while maintaining clear communication and accuracy. The Bookkeeper will report directly to the business owners and will occasionally work with upper management to resolve billing or account questions. The ideal candidate has strong accounting experience, proficiency with Quick Books Online
, and a willingness to learn our unique internal processes as well as have a positive attitude to work in a family-owned company with an intimate office team setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
  • Proficiency in Quick Books Online and other accounting software.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and general ledger processes.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing procedures and software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree or certification in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or 2+ years of bookkeeping experience
  • Experience working in a mid-sized or large organization ideal.
