Bring your audit and accounting skills to Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) to help shape policies for utilities throughout the state of Wisconsin as the new Bureau Director of Audit and Accounting (Administrative Manager) !

The PSC is an independent state agency that is responsible for regulating more than 1,100 Wisconsin public utilities, which provide electric, natural gas, combined water and sewer utilities, and certain aspects of local telephone service to households and businesses throughout the state! The PSC of Wisconsin ensures safe, reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible utility services and equitable access to telecommunications and broadband services.

This position offers a hybridized work schedule that offers the option to work remotely with one in office day required every month. A greater in-office presence may be required periodically for meetings, events, training, onboarding, or other operational needs. This schedule may change based on operational needs and organizational requirements. The position is headquartered at the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI.

Employees will be generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. Further questions regarding hybrid and remote work may be discussed more at the time of the interview.

The Bureau Director of Audit and Accounting (Administrative Manager) position is primarily responsible for managing staff and work planning for investor-owned and municipal electric rate cases, highly complex audits of electric and natural gas utilities, holding companies, and affiliated interests, and other financial investigations and policy updates before the Commission.

This position serves as a significant and contributing member of the Division of Energy Regulation and Analysis’ (DERA) Core Management Team (CMT) and works under the general supervision of the DERA Deputy Administrator. This position requires independent performance and decision-making in technical and highly complex matters affecting utility regulation throughout the state of Wisconsin.

As the Commission’s subject matter expert on accounting and audit policy issues, this position requires thorough knowledge of utility rate-making theory and accounting practices, including a thorough knowledge of the Uniform System of Accounts and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
