About the RoleThe Accounting GL/CLOSE team manages all aspects of day-to-day GL accounting and close responsibilities for areas, including revenue (online and retail). To support business growth, we have created the role of Staff Accountant (Revenue) to assist with all areas of accounting for our retail revenue relationships. The role will primarily focus on managing the retail revenue process, which includes overseeing contract terms, ensuring accurate billing and revenue recognition, and reconciling retail accounts to maintain the integrity of financial reporting.
YouWill
- Create and maintain adequate accounting procedures for complex transactions and procedures related to Revenue.
- Partner with cross functional business owners (Operations/ Data engineering) to develop new accounting processes and month-end close procedures for new or changed business operations with oversight from Senior Accountant and Manager.
- Own month-end close process with minimal review comments from Senior Accountants and Managers, including completing account reconciliations and preparing/posting manual journal entries, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Review the work performed by the outsourced accounting team and support preparation of new training instructions for the accounting team as needed.
- Assist with external audit and Sarbanes–Oxley Act (SOX) requests on quarterly and annual basis.
- Aid in preparation of slide decks for Quarterly CFO review meetings.
- Assist with ad-hoc accounting projects and resolve issues arising from daily accounting operations for retail.
- Enhance accounting operations procedures to adhere to the public company Sarbanes-Oxley Act control requirements and to US GAAP.
- Serve as subject matter expert on accounting procedures for Revenue for various business stakeholders including but not limited to Operations, Retail, Data Eng, and External Audit.
- 2-4+ years of experience in the accounting profession.
- Big 4 accounting firm experience strongly preferred.
- BA or BS degree from a top-ranking university in accounting, business administration, or economics preferred.
- CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification is strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills required; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Net Suite) and expense tracking/reporting tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and resolve complex issues.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of organizational ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to think through complex problems, determine proper processes, and derive accounting conclusions, and present results to the team.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines with accuracy and accountability.
- Ability to be a team player, and ability to work well in both In-Person & Remote work environments.
