What you’ll do
As a member of the global accounting team, you will play a vital role in maintaining company financial records and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our general ledger accounts. You will work closely with internal and cross-functional teams to prepare and manage financial data and contribute to financial analysis and reporting. You will be responsible for supporting high quality and timely worldwide accounting and act as a resource to the organization for accounting guidance and support.
The Accountant position is a full-time position located in Southfield, Michigan reporting to the Accounting Manager. Paid relocation is not provided.
General Ledger Maintenance
- Perform various global accounting functions, ensuring that assigned general ledger transactions and positions are accounted for properly in accordance with Firm policies and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and supported by appropriate audit documentation.
- Process domestic and international cash and other transactions in a multicurrency environment.
- Reconcile cash and other general ledger accounts including analysis, investigation, and resolution of differences in ledger to bank balances or other supporting documentation.
Month-end & Year-end Closing
- Perform routine and nonroutine month-end close procedures including journal entry preparation, data entry, account reconciliation and reporting.
- Prepare adjusting journal entries and accruals as needed.
Internal Controls and Processes
- Support external and internal audit process by analyzing testing for effectiveness and preparing requested analysis.
- Evaluate and recommend processes improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Cross-functional Interactions
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and provide financial expertise and recommendations to resolve issues and work towards best practices.
- Serve as resource to the organization for accounting guidance and support.

What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with emphasis in Accounting.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience preferred.
- Public accounting experience preferred. CPA preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and accounting principles.
- Demonstrated ability to use accounting, technical, and analytical skills effectively.
- Self-motivated. Initiates activities with drive, passion, and dedication to continuous improvement; able to work independently using judgement and under time constraints in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with good interpersonal capabilities and the ability to connect with colleagues within and across functional areas.
- Attention to detail and accuracy; organized with the ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet strict deadlines.
- Experience working in multi-currency environment (i.e. an international company), desirable.
- Proficient Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, lookup formulas and other advanced functions.
- Experience using SAP S4 HANA is a plus.
