Infrastructure Software Engineer (Python & Object Storage) - PID

This is a remote position. We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure Engineer for a 3-month freelance contract. This is a full-time engagement with a daily rate available. The role focuses on developing production-grade code to enable scalable, decoupled system architectures and robust observability.
English is the only language requirement for this position. While the role is primarily remote, it requires only occasional onsite visits to Germany.
Responsibilities- Programming: Write production-grade source code to implement architecture specifications, including unit tests and comprehensive documentation.
- System Architecture: Make technical decisions within defined boundaries, communicating these effectively to architects and stakeholders.
- Quality & Reliability: Conduct root cause analysis, implement remediation strategies, and apply site reliability engineering principles across the software lifecycle.
- Leadership & Delivery: Provide technical guidance to development stakeholders and ensure the on-time delivery of modular application features.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify process enhancements, facilitate technical presentations to medium-sized audiences, and foster agile ways of working.
- Eligibility: Residency in the EU, EEC, UK, or Switzerland is mandatory.
- Professional
Experience:
At least 3+ years of professional software development experience using high-level programming languages. - Python Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Python (3.9+), with a strong command of asynchronous programming (asyncio), multiprocessing, and concurrency models.
- API Development: Extensive experience with FastAPI and a deep understanding of microservice design principles, including state management and inter-service communication.
- Object Storage: Solid grasp of object storage fundamentals (buckets, metadata, immutability, versioning) and practical experience integrating applications with S3-compatible APIs.
- Security & Policy: Hands‑on experience with Authentication and Authorization patterns (RBAC, ABAC) and designing policy-based access control for APIs and services.
- Reliability & Observability: Experience integrating tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Open Telemetry, and working with logging/alerting mechanisms like the EFK stack.
- Software Design: Expertise in modular design, dependency injection, and automated testing frameworks (pytest).
