OMNI Engineering, a CRH company, started its business in 1985 in Omaha, Nebraska. OMNI is involved in heavy highway construction as well as private and commercial site construction. Its primary business involves the manufacture and placement of asphalt for roads, city streets and parking lots. Currently, OMNI Engineering employs around 200 employees and remains a competitive force in the Omaha market.
Position OverviewThe Dump Truck Driver is responsible for operating trucks to transport aggregate, asphalt, dirt and other materials and/or equipment to various job site locations. Will also work in the yard area to stockpile and move materials as needed.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)- Operates truck in safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area and at various job sites to deliver materials. Trucks driven include but are not limited to: belly dumps, dump truck and semi-tractor truck with attached trailers.
- Inspects truck and trailer as required at the start and end of each workday, completing the Driver Check-off Sheet which indicates that all systems are functioning properly.
- Unrolls truck tarp to cover loads when required.
- Dump materials as requested per job order. Cleans box Shovels any remaining materials out of the dump box after a delivery as needed.
- Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources.
- Accurate logging of deliveries required as well as maintain required daily vehicle logs.
- Hauls various equipment or materials on tilt/transport trailers to transfer to other job site locations.
- Cleans truck by washing the outside and keeping the inside cab clean. Cleans dump box using water spray gun to clean out any remaining materials.
- Fuels truck when needed.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor.
- Must meet all eligibility requirements for driving a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and the Department of Transportation.
- Assist in operating other DOT vehicles, operating equipment and with other departments as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- One to two years CDL driving experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
Work Requirements
- Must be 21 years in age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must have and maintain a valid class A or B Commercial Driver’s License.
- Must have and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manuals.
- Regular, on-time and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and work away from home when required.
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA, Company Policy and specific Job Site Requirements.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions.
- Ability to read and comprehend policies, instructions, site maps, city street maps and other GPS based equipment information.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as being able to work independently with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate, understand and follow in both verbal and written instructions.
- Must be familiar with securing heavy equipment and other over dimensional loads.
- Able to utilize a tablet for load status, time keeping, training and other items
- Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person. Able to utilize a computer, phone or tablet for typing, message, data management, timekeeping, and communicating by voice or text.
- Able to frequently stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
- Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
- May require sitting for extended periods of time.
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to focus.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, inclined walkways and access elevated platforms.
- Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
