How would you contribute?
This role is a contributing member of our Airlite - Omaha team, located in Omaha NE. As a Logistics Specialist you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite. The Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing domestic and international freight activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant product movement. This role partners closely with carriers, internal teams, and external stakeholders to manage transportation operations, resolve shipment issues, and support overall supply chain efficiency.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinate and prioritize outbound and inbound shipments based on customer, operational, and business requirements.
- Select and manage carriers across multiple transportation modes, including truckload, LTL, small parcel, and air freight.
- Prepare and process required documentation for domestic and international shipments, including customs paperwork.
- Maintain accurate shipment data within transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse systems.
- Review, reconcile, and approve freight invoices; manage discrepancies and follow up with carriers as needed.
- Request and evaluate freight quotes, including volume, expedited, and international shipments.
- File and manage freight claims related to loss, damage, or shortages through resolution.
- Monitor trailer pools and coordinate trailer tendering activities with carriers.
- Develop, maintain, and distribute logistics reports to support operational visibility and decision-making.
- Identify and report food safety or compliance concerns in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics processes and carrier performance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, or procurement environments.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations and federal transportation requirements.
- Experience using logistics technology, transportation management systems, and warehouse systems preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Broad understanding of traffic and logistic principles.
- Capability to solve problems and utilize critical thinking skills.
- Superior organizational skills and the ability to utilize resources needed to orchestrate projects and accomplish goals.
- Model a collaborative team style with the ability to build partnerships and influence others.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and approach; tactful in dealing with people at all levels.
- Strong sense of urgency, self-motivated and positive
- Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.

- Maintain the utmost level of confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information.
