Position: Water Truck Driver – Omaha, NE (520875)

OMNI Engineering, a CRH company, started its business in 1985 in Omaha, Nebraska. OMNI is involved in heavy highway construction as well as private and commercial site construction. Its primary business involves the manufacture and placement of asphalt for roads, city streets and parking lots. Currently, OMNI Engineering employs around 200 employees and remains a competitive force in the Omaha market.

Position Overview

The Water Truck Driver is responsible for operating the water truck to transport water and other materials and/or equipment to various job site locations. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of self-propelled broom, skid loader and other duties including assisting the crews.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Operates truck in safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area and at various job sites to deliver materials.
  • Inspects truck, trailer and other equipment as required at the start and end of each workday, completing the Driver Check-off Sheet which indicates that all systems are functioning properly.
  • Checks fluid levels, tires, lights, and other controls for safe operation as well as monitoring gauges during operation of vehicle.
  • Accurate logging of deliveries required as well as maintain required daily vehicle logs.
  • Assist in operating other DOT vehicles, operating milling equipment, assisting milling crew and other departments as needed.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • Responsible for the efficient working condition of truck and equipment including perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • Comply with all Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). including but not limited to vehicle weight, licensing, vehicle inspection and hours of service.
  • Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources.
  • Must meet all eligibility requirements for driving a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and the Department of Transportation.

Qualifications

Education / Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • One to two years CDL driving experience. Three to five years of CDL driving experience preferred.
  • Experience in a building materials/construction industry preferred.
Work Requirements
  • Must be 21 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must have and maintain a valid class A or a class B Commercial Driver’s License with a Tanker Endorsement and meet the company MVR requirements.
  • Must have and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate.
  • Must meet all eligibility requirements for driving a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and the Department of Transportation  adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manuals.
  • Regular, on-time and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and work away from home when required.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA, Company Policy and specific Job Site Requirements.
Knowledge / Skill Requirements
  • Ability to operate Class B Truck with Tanker and various other types of heavy equipment that may include but not limited to asphalt paver, rollers, broom and skid steer.
  • Ability to utilize a tablet for time keeping, training and other items.
