Are you ready to help Amazon deliver world‑class service in its transportation operations? Transportation Associates will perform trailer moves in the trailer yard, coordinate yard activities (such as checking in trailers, traffic flow, internal communications with operations, etc.), conduct yard audits, complete applicable driver training programs (Hostler, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) School, etc.), and operate multiple vehicle types based on business need (including but not limited to hostlers and day cabs) to support Amazon’s transportation network.

Responsibilities
  • Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations, and enforce safety measures and policies with all vehicle operators, vendors, and senior team members.
  • Perform various yard functions and support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and maintain workflow for buildings.
  • Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non‑public roads or in the yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
  • Learn Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and comply with company policies and procedures regarding size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting, break periods, etc.
  • Complete driver vehicle inspection reports and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
  • Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks in compliance with Amazon policy and federal and state regulations, adhere to yard safety policies, obey all applicable traffic laws, and drive in accordance with weather/road conditions.
  • Support the business on an as‑needed basis by serving as a peer trainer and/or working at nearby site locations within the area.
  • Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.).

Eligibility & Requirements
  • Hold a valid and active driver’s license for the state in which you reside and be eligible to drive in accordance with DOT requirements.
  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • Be 21 years or older and able to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines in English.
  • Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach, and ascend/descend stairs.
  • Work 40 hours per week, including overtime as required, and on a flexible schedule/shift/work area that may include weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
  • If requested due to business need, Transportation Associates must obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Driver Qualification File (DQF). The position becomes regulated by the Department of Transportation  follows FMCSA regulations. This requirement is contingent upon successful completion of a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening, a DOT physical, and Amazon’s pre‑employment drug test.
  • Proficiency in English per federal regulation (for CDL‑oriented roles).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences.
  • Experience building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and outside vendors.
  • A commitment to follow and enforce safety measures and policies for all vehicle operators and entrants to the yard, including vendors and senior team members.
