Nature of Work:Nature of Work: The Street Outreach Community Liaison works collaboratively with a wide variety of community members and City staff to assist in ending homelessness in Omaha. Facilitating City processes in response to homelessness and access to community resources by building relationships and promoting community collaboration. This position is a member of the Mayor's Office staff and works under the direction of the Homeless Services Coordinator.
Education and Experience:Education and Experience: The knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience.
- Previous experience working with homeless individuals, vulnerable populations, or in outreach programs is preferred.
- Previous law enforcement experience preferred.
- Associate level education in human services, psychology, sociology, or other related fields is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to transport oneself or coordinate transportation to work sites throughout the City during the course of the work day.
- Must be available to work flexible hours which may include weekends and evenings.
Pay Range: $45,000 to $55,000 Annually

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Knowledge of, and ability to operate, computers and other technology using standard or customized computer or systems software applications appropriate to the assigned tasks.
- Knowledge of ability to use casement management software and databases.
- Knowledge of local resources, social service agencies, and housing programs available for homeless individuals.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and establish rapport with diverse individuals.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with homeless individuals, community members, and service providers.
- Ability to exercise empathy, patience, and to work under challenging and often unpredictable situations.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team and community partners.
- Ability to learn and adapt to advances in computer and electronics device technology and software.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, and with members of the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to adhere to safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Ability to sit from 76 to 100% of the time, to stand and walk from 26 to 50% of the time, and reach, bend, stoop, push and pull up to 25% of the time.
- Ability to use up to ten (10) pounds of force up to 25% of the time to move objects.
- Identifies, develops, and maintains collaborative relationships with businesses, City departments, and community members that are impacted by homelessness. Develops collaborative relationships with local homeless service providers and community advocates.
- Works directly with the Mayor's hotline staff to strengthen response processes and connect with community members. Communicate directly with community members who report encampments or unsheltered individuals to the Mayor's Hotline.
