Crew Leader – Sheppard's Business Interiors, Omaha, NE
SummaryProvide expertise and leadership on product installation and services for systems and office furniture, directing installers, temporary labor, and sub‑contractors across all phases. Deliver safety‑first, quality execution, cost control, and clear communication throughout the installation process.
Responsibilities- Lead larger‑scale installation projects and direct installers and sub‑contractors on site.
- Ensure quality work and efficient implementation with safety as a priority.
- Promote and enforce the use of appropriate safety equipment.
- Control project costs and recover expenses through punchlist and change order procedures.
- Survey job sites for existing damage, obstacles, etc., and report to Project Managers.
- Identify and communicate project damages, omissions, and customer concerns to the Project Manager.
- Use on‑the‑job technical expertise to train and mentor the installation team and sub‑contractors.
- Facilitate product updates and new‑product training.
- Complete and submit all daily documentation accurately and in a legible manner.
- Follow proper checkout procedures for tools and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and safe operation of all company vehicles, power tools, and moving equipment.
- Provide daily project updates and documentation to the customer or appropriate manager.
- Give daily feedback regarding staff performance.
- Work overtime and travel outside the Omaha metro as needed.
- Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
- Desire and ability to lead staff, problem‑solve, and advocate continuous improvement.
- 3–5 years of installation experience preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand manufacturers’ assembly directions.
- Working knowledge of Steelcase and major competitor lines.
- Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and proven organization and prioritization.
- Proven safety practices, technical knowledge, customer service, and leadership skills.
- Strong desire and ability to mentor and guide less experienced staff.
- Valid driver’s license with insurance requirements and ability to operate SBI fleet vehicles.
- Background check clearance for restricted customer sites.
- Ability to install wall track and other wall‑mounted furniture components.
- Planning, organization, and supervision of all project aspects including installers, temporary labor, and sub‑contractors.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
