Under the direct supervision of the project Foreman/Superintendent, the Welder assists in the installation of glass in windows, skylights, store fronts, and display cases, or on surfaces, such as building fronts, interior walls, ceiling, and tabletops by preparing the opening for enclosure. The person in this role directly impacts the client’s satisfaction with the company’s service performance final product. Serving multiple internal and external stakeholders on job sites of various types, the highly functioning Welder will have a general knowledge of the construction industry and will possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to execute all welding duties as they pertain to commercial window installation.
EssentialFunctions
Welders use hand-held equipment to join or cut metal parts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, or other specifications
- Prepare pre-installed/pre-assembled metal pieces for welding
- Fabricate and/or modify structural steel attachment points
- Install structural steel support integral to window systems
- Use precision measuring tools and related hand and power tools for welding processes
- Maintain equipment for effective use and safety considerations
- Read, understand and follow all Safe Work Practices and Procedures for welding machinery and equipment
- Understand basic construction principals that are sufficient to assist Glaziers when necessary to complete jobs on time:
- Use basic construction tools and equipment
- Cut, fit, install, repair or replace metal and glass materials in building interiors and exteriors
- Load, arrange, and unload materials on to delivery trucks using appropriate aids
- Communicate with project managers, supervisors, and other staff regarding work progress
- Keep job sites clean and organized
- Maintain good relationships with staff

Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, plus overtime

- use body members to move, carry, and assemble objects or materials
- lift weight up to 50 pounds individually, and more with a team
- exert force to move and assemble materials in a repetitive manner
- motor skills as appropriate to successfully manipulate common hand tools
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One-year of work experience in a similar function
- 3G/4G Face & Root Welding Certifications Required
