This work involves the safe and efficient operation of light single axle trucks, farm-type tractors and related automotive and construction equipment. In addition to equipment operation, incumbents are required to perform manual labor. Job assignments are given in detail or follow established routines and are reviewed by an assigned supervisor. Assignments will include lead worker duties.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience.

High school diploma or its equivalent preferred AND One (1) year of experience in the operation and routine maintenance of trucks or construction equipment of the type assigned to this classification.

• Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license at time of application.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class "B" or Class "A" commercial driver's license with "N" endorsement by the end of the probationary period.
• Must possess a 2nd Grade Hoisting and Portable Engineer's Certificate (or higher) and a flagger certification by the end of the probationary period.
• If assigned to Park Maintenance, Forestry, or Impound Lot divisions, must possess a forklift operator's certificate by the endาค of the probationary period.

$23.15 with step increases to $30.42 Hourly

Forty-hour work week. Paid leave per year: twelve days vacation; eighteen days sick; and fourteen holidays. The examination will consist of a structured interview scheduled for January 30, 2026. Qualified candidates will receive more information after the application is accepted. The structured interview is designed to assess job‑related knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. The final eligibility list will be assembled from those candidates achieving a passing score of 50% on the structured interview (100% weight).

To claim five (5) points for veteran's preference, you must submit proof of service (such as a DD-214) that includes the date of induction, date of honorable separation, and Social Security number. (You must have completed more than 180 consecutive days of active duty.) To receive an additional five (5) points credit for disability, you must submit proof of eligibility from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs dated within the last 12 months.
