Boiler Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled Boiler Operator to join our maintenance team in a high-volume food manufacturing facility. The role involves operating and maintaining a 150-horsepower boiler and performing preventative maintenance and repairs on plant equipment. The work environment ranges from hot boiler rooms to cold refrigerated/freezer areas, emphasizing the need for attention to safety, compliance, and maintaining uptime.
Responsibilities- Operate and monitor a 150 HP boiler and auxiliary systems, maintaining proper steam/water levels and safe operating pressures.
- Spend approximately 25% of the day monitoring the boiler, including logs, rounds, gauges, alarms, and control adjustments.
- Complete call work orders and preventative maintenance for the remainder of the shift.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain conveyors, slicers, packaging machines, and Cryovac systems.
- Adjust controls for temperature, pressure, and fuel supply; respond promptly to alarms and system malfunctions.
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and recordkeeping, including daily logs, PMs, and work orders in the CMMS.
- Follow GMPs, food safety, and facility safety protocols; support OSHA and environmental compliance.
- Collaborate with production and QA to minimize downtime and meet schedule priorities.
- Strong knowledge of boiler systems, controls, and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret gauges, meters, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Basic PLC familiarity is a plus.
- Effective communicator with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable using CMMS/electronic work order systems.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
- Valid 3rd Grade Stationary Engineer License required.

Work EnvironmentThe role requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and working at heights or in confined spaces. You must be comfortable working in both hot boiler rooms and cold refrigerated/freezer areas. Use of personal protective equipment, such as hearing and eye protection, insulated clothing, and gloves, is required as necessary.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Omaha, NE.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $62000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
