Maintenance Technician (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm)

We are looking for an experienced Evening Maintenance Technician to join our 2nd shift (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm) Maintenance Team. Our Maintenance Technicians are critical to the university’s success, responsible for keeping the operations running 24x7. The department follows a generalist model covering senior‑level maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and residential electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and kitchen equipment.

• Troubleshooting and repairs on electrical systems including lighting, receptacles, ballasts, and motors.
• Plumbing troubleshooting, replacement, and repairs on fixtures, waste, condensate, storm drains, and use of drain machines; steam/condensation/chill water applications; some kitchen equipment.
• Preventative maintenance on HVAC systems (filters, AHUs, ventilation, exhaust, furnaces, air conditioning), hydronic and heating water systems.
• Continual preventative maintenance on all systems and equipment.
• Participation in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training, and implementation of those strategies daily.
• Complete computer‑required tasks as needed and other duties as assigned, including working weekends and during high academic times.

• High‑school diploma or equivalent required; some post‑secondary education preferred.
• Valid and current driver’s license.
• 2‑5+ years of building maintenance experience in a commercial setting with strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Formal training in HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical systems preferred.

• Self‑starter with excellent communication skills.
• Strong customer‑service focus and positive interactions with internal and external clients.
• Highly motivated, high energy, thrives under pressure, efficient.
• Availability to be “on‑call” on a rotational schedule.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work outdoors at varying temperatures.
• Knowledge of LED lighting conversions and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting electrical circuitry, pumps, motors, science lab equipment, kitchen equipment, exhaust fans, emergency generators.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and preventative maintenance on steam/condensation, chill water, and hydronic systems including PRVs, steam traps, controls, condensate pumps, strainers.
• Troubleshooting and repair of basic to intermediate plumbing applications.
• Operating manual and electric drain machines.
• Repair of pumps, motors, air handler units, fan coil units, exhaust fans.
• Experience with commercial and residential kitchen equipment is a plus.
• Team collaboration and mentoring junior technicians.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting with understanding of cost and time.
• Organization, time‑management, communication, interpersonal skills.
• Senior‑level experience providing direction and guidance to junior mechanics (preferred).

Must have a current and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for the last 3 years and no major violations within the last 5 years.
