Part Time Armed Detention Officer ($32 per hour and $5,000 Sign On Bonus)

Akima Infrastructure Protection (AIP) is looking for an Armed Detention Officer. The role ensures the safety and security of detainees in custody, operating with the highest ethical standards and maintaining fairness and integrity throughout duties.

$25.64/hr – $25.64/hr

• Guard and safeguard non-citizen detainees and the general public at government buildings in custodial or court settings.
• Qualify on a standard course of fire twice yearly and up to four times annually if required.
• Complete all training, basic and annual refresher, maintain an appropriate level of fitness and continually meet all job requirements throughout the contract life span.
• Perform duties related to the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, and escort of detainees as required by the contract.
• Exercise surveillance and control over detainees and maintain order and discipline.
• Make official entries in the processing logbooks that are legible and complete.
• Conduct a security and sanitation check of the area prior to relieving the outgoing officer.
• Inventory all equipment and notate the results in the logbook.
• Receive all authorized equipment and ensure that it is in proper working condition.
• Carry one authorized intermediate weapon as required.
• Use intermediate weapons in accordance with Service approved Use of Force policy.
• Ensure that your communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged battery.
• Inspect, maintain, and care for authorized equipment.
• Qualify with a company issued semi-automatic pistol with appropriate duty belt and magazines.
• Successfully complete all assigned training including defensive tactics and a minimum physical stamina requirement.
• Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
• Follow company-wide safety policies and practices and adhere to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting, and monitoring as outlined in the Officer Handbook and other Company Safety Policies.

• United States citizen or lawful permanent resident who has resided in the U.S. for the last five years.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• No criminal record; pass a criminal background check and consumer credit check.
• Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance.
• Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests.
• Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Valid state driver's license or CDL.
• Valid firearm license.
• Ability to obtain an armed state security guard license from the state of Minnesota or Nebraska.
• One year of Military, Security, Law Enforcement, or Corrections experience demonstrating guest.
• Ability to greet and deal tactfully and professionally with the public.
• Capability of following and interpreting written and verbal orders, policies and regulations, printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and can compose written and oral reports.
• Ability to exercise good judgment, courage, alertness, even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through responsibilities.
• Ability to maintain poise and self-control during potential emergencies and unexpected situations involving mental and physical stress such as disturbances, altercations, fires, and building evacuations.
• Maintain current/physical residency in the continental United States.
• Strictly maintain physical fitness standards for law enforcement and CDL requirements.

• Speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Concisely and accurately prepare and write narratives of incidents and other written reports.
• Pass and maintain required medical and physical testing requirements and standards.
• Exercise judgment and use discretion in dealing with first response to all situations.
• Demonstrate proficiency in methods and techniques of securing and controlling detainees by following required training, policy, and procedure.
