As a Catering Business Development Manager, you’ll play a key role in developing partnerships, identifying new opportunities, and strengthening customer relationships while working alongside Operations and store teams to support successful catering experiences.
This is a hands-on, field-based role for someone who enjoys connecting with people, staying close to the business, and making an impact through thoughtful outreach and follow-through.
About the role:
The Catering Business Development Manager is responsible for growing catering revenue across Weis Restaurant Group markets through relationship building, community engagement, and proactive outreach. This role focuses on generating demand, developing long-term customer relationships, and expanding catering opportunities while partnering closely with Operations and store teams to support successful execution of larger or strategic events.
This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring consistent market presence and connection within the community. While Operations maintains ownership of order execution, this role serves as a trusted partner opening doors, strengthening relationships, and helping ensure catering opportunities are positioned for success.
What you'll do:
Build Relationships & Drive GrowthDevelop and maintain relationships with local businesses, organizations, schools, and community partners.
Prospect new catering opportunities through outreach, networking, drop-offs, and community involvement.
Grow repeat catering customers and key account relationships.
Identify and secure large or strategic catering opportunities including corporate events, schools, graduations, and community events.
Represent Weis Restaurant Group brands professionally in the community.
Partner Across TeamsCollaborate with Operations and Marketing to support continued growth of the catering program.
Share customer insights and market feedback to help improve offerings and processes.
Act as a bridge between customers and store teams for larger or complex catering opportunities.
Help ensure customer expectations and event details are clearly communicated.
Support Customer ExperienceConduct post-event follow-ups to support satisfaction and repeat business.
Maintain strong relationships with key accounts.
Escalate operational concerns while providing helpful context and customer perspective.
Track Progress & InsightsTrack leads, relationships, and catering growth activity.
Support catering growth goals and provide updates on trends and opportunities.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous catering experience, preferably in a food service or restaurant environment.
- Strong sales, networking, and relationship-building experience.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Comfortable with daily local travel and community outreach.
- Ability to use basic technology tools, including POS systems, email, calendars, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
- Willingness to be hands-on and support operations as needed.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality, Communications, or related field
- Experience securing large catering orders or event agreements.
- Background in hospitality, food service sales, or multi-location restaurant operations.

Work Environment &Physical Requirements
Field-based role with regular time spent in restaurants and community settings
Prolonged standing and walking

Flexibility required, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, or event support
