This is a full-time, on-site position located in Omaha, NE for the role of Forensic Scientist. The Forensic Scientist will perform laboratory analyses on physical evidence to assist in criminal investigations. Responsibilities include examining, documenting, and processing forensic evidence, preparing detailed reports, and providing expert testimony in court. The role also involves maintaining laboratory quality assurance standards and adhering to established protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of results.
The laboratory is ANAB/ISO 17025:2017 accredited and has been conducting DNA testing for about 30 years.
- Strong skills in evidence analysis, laboratory procedures, and usage of forensic equipment
- Ability to conduct meticulous research, maintain documentation, and analyze findings
- Knowledge of forensic science, criminal investigations, and legal procedures
- Proficiency in report writing, data analysis, and scientific communication
- Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with law enforcement and testify in court when needed
- Familiarity with quality assurance standards in forensic laboratory settings
- Degree in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific field is required; advanced degrees or certifications in forensic analysis are a plus (course work in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Statistics is required)
