The Quality Engineer at RDI will be a key driver of quality standards for our injection molding operations. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, this role is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance processes. The successful candidate will resolve quality issues and ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements, focusing on improving business processes and increasing production output.
This role works cross‑functionally with Production Supervisors, the Engineering group, and Maintenance to create and implement procedures that enhance the efficiency, reliability, and overall quality of RDI's materials. The Quality Engineer will also manage regulatory processes and lead continuous quality improvement efforts, both internally and externally, to consistently meet and exceed the expectations of the Leadership Team.
- Develop and implement inspection methods and procedures for all manufacturing processes, including injection molding, assembly, sub‑assembly, and automated assembly.
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) for new product development and report results to the Product Development and Management teams.
- Assist with the management of all metrology equipment (e.g., scales, measurement tools) ensuring their calibration is coordinated and performed according to quality standards.
- Perform and document internal production and quality inspection audits to verify adherence to documented procedures and drive corrective actions for identified non‑conformances and/or noncompliance issues. Report audit results and findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct or assist with 2nd‑party supplier audits to qualify new suppliers and ensure compliance with RDI quality standards.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for quality issues, non‑conformances, and noncompliance events.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and product development to identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and quality output.
- Manage and maintain the company's quality standards and testing systems to ensure efficiency, reliability, and performance.
- Assist with the management of the RDI‑controlled document center for all quality‑related documents.
- Collect, analyze, and update quality‑related metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for internal reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain the company's defect library and corrective action response guides to support training and standardize quality expectations.
