The Pet Stylist’s primary purpose is to perform expert‑level professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning. The Pet Stylist prioritizes the safety, comfort and well‑being of all pets in our care and delivers a high level of customer satisfaction to pet parents.

• Perform professional grooming services under moderate to limited supervision.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments (clippers, blades, shears, brushes, dryers).
• Prioritize pet safety and well‑being, monitoring for discomfort, illness or injury.
• Evaluate individual pet needs based on coat type, skin conditions and temperament.
• Provide excellent customer service and grooming recommendations to pet parents.
• Educate pet parents on at‑home care practices.
• Maintain a clean, safe grooming area and sanitize equipment per Petco hygiene policies.
• Adhere to Petco grooming policies, standards and guidelines ensuring consistency and quality.
• Train, support and supervise entry‑level trainees when required.

• Completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco or a professional groomer background and/or technical grooming training.
• High‑school diploma or GED preferred (not required).
• Independent judgment and problem‑solving skills in routine to moderately complex situations.
• Results‑driven with commitment to productivity, performance and ownership of role.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate and high‑standard grooming services.
• Passion for animals and desire to continue a career in pet grooming.
• Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements, health issues and behaviors.
• Proficiency in breed‑specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required.

Jobs are conducted indoors in the grooming salon, requiring bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 lbs) and standing for long periods. Exposure to heights with a two‑step ladder or other tools is possible. The environment can be noisy and wet.
