Position: Stepdown Unit Nurse (RN) in Omaha, NE
Deliver skilled nursing care as an RN on the Stepdown (PCU) unit located on the 4th Floor East Wing in Omaha, NE. This contract role supports adult patients primarily, with occasional adolescents aged 15 and older, in a 55-bed unit focused on intermediate care. The position is designed for nurses who thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and have strong clinical and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in a Progressive Care Unit setting with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio for both day and night shifts
• Administer medications including PCA pumps, cardizem, and insulin, while managing telemetry monitoring and Alaris IV pumps
• Collaborate with unit staff including educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, and therapists to facilitate holistic patient care
• Perform hourly rounding and maintain responsiveness to enhance patient experience
• Participate in mandatory orientation exams and adhere to all clinical and facility policies, including fingernail restrictions and uniform requirements

Qualifications and Desired Experience

• Active RN licensure with experience in stepdown or progressive care nursing
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Competency in telemetry and working knowledge of EPIC EMR system
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts  or ) with every other weekend commitment
• Valid driver's license and reside within 50 miles of the facility (as per radius requirement)
• Must not have concurrent employment with any Common Spirit-associated facilities and comply with all facility-specific policies

Additional Details

• Navy blue scrubs required; CNA support available
• Float assignments primarily to medical-surgical units as needed
• Strong teamwork and communication skills essential
