Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU/Pre Op position at a Level II Trauma acute care facility, requiring at least 2 years of experience in both Pre Op/PACU and Phase II recovery.

Details
  • Acute care hospital setting with a Level II Trauma designation
  • 25-bed PACU unit covering Phase I and Phase II recovery
  • Common cases include orthopedic, bariatric (laparoscopic and robotic), general surgery, urology, hand and foot, spine, GYN, and sports medicine procedures, as well as preparation for cath lab, IR, TEE, and radiology procedures
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Day shift with a mix of 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts; schedule is set by the manager on a 6-week basis
  • On-call is required Monday through Friday, on weekends, and on holidays
  • Weekend call rotation approximately every 5–6 weekends
  • Floating required between Pre Op, PACU, and Phase II
  • 13-week contract
Requirements
  • Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS; pending certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Experience in Pre Op/PACU and Phase II recovery required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify residence outside the 50-mile radius
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
  • Orientation consists of 1 week of classroom training followed by 1 week of department-specific orientation
  • RNs must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%; failure to pass results in contract termination
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result in contract termination
  • Holiday call coverage is required
  • RTO of 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract must be requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
  • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible; candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
