American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a Level I Trauma Center in Nebraska, requiring telemetry experience, ACLS, and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Details- Acute care hospital setting at a Level I Trauma Center
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU), 4th Floor East Wing — 55-bed unit
- Adult patient population; pediatric patients are rare and are 15 years of age or older
- Common diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and generalized weakness
- Common drips and medications include PCA pumps, Cardizem, and insulin
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4 on both day and night shifts
- 12-hour day shifts (0630–1830)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required, primarily to med/surg areas based on highest unit need
- EMR:
Epic (experience required) - IV pumps:
Alaris - Mechanical lifts available in every other room
- Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — all must be active; pending certifications are not accepted
- Telemetry experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — driver's license is used to verify permanent address
- Candidates may not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered)
- Provide progressive care nursing to adult patients with cardiac, neurological, and respiratory conditions
- Unit is supported by CNAs, a charge nurse, an educator, care managers, social workers, dieticians, and PT/OT staff
- Orientation includes a pass/fail open-book skills exam administered on the first Friday of orientation — a score of 90% or higher is required to pass
- Scrub color:
Navy Blue (RN) - Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas — refusal to comply may result to contract termination
- Hourly rounding and patient responsiveness are key focuses on this unit
- Successful candidates are self-directed, able to manage a busy workload, and collaborative team members
