Children’s is the region’s only full-service pediatric healthcare center. This role is an integral part of the Emergency Department’s mission to quickly and calmly care for children in critical situations.
Essential Functions- Conduct individualized age‑specific patient and family assessments and develop care plans using evidence‑based protocols.
- Perform admission and ongoing reassessments; communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team and families.
- Coordinate and participate in procedures (e.g., cardiac catheterization) and follow institutional safety guidelines.
- Implement and evaluate nursing actions, monitor patient progress, and adjust care plans as needed.
- Document all care accurately using the electronic health record, ensuring compliance with hospital policy and timelines.
- Assist with scheduling, mentorship, and education of other staff and student nurses.
- Maintain physical readiness for the demands of emergency care and keep FCC coordination duties.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience; pediatric experience preferred.
- Prior EPIC experience preferred.
- RN – state licensure or compact licensure (current in Nebraska).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – required upon hire.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – required within 180 days (non‑NICU).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) – required within 180 days (NICU only).
- ACLS – required within 6 months of hire (Cath Lab & ED).
- ENPC – Emergency Nursing Pediatric Certification (ED) – required within 1 year.
- TNCC or ATCN – Trauma Nursing Core Course or Advanced Trauma Care Nurse (ED) – required within 1 year.
- For Radiology Nursing RNs, completion of all radiology competencies upon hire.
- Ability to multitask under stressful conditions while maintaining composure.
- Strong prioritization, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Adaptability to rapidly changing patient needs and workflows.
