Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring a NE or compact license, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certification.

Responsibilities
  • Position is in a 16-bed ICU within an acute care setting
  • Typical patient ratio is 1:2, occasionally 1:3
  • Cares for a variety of high-acuity ICU patients including vented individuals, patients undergoing BIS scoring, TTM, and occasional IABP cases
  • RNs are required to titrate vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, heparin, octreotide, and insulin drips
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7am, with every other weekend required
  • Holiday rotation is required with permanent staff
  • Floating may be required to PCU or Med Surg units
  • Department uses Epic EMR system
  • eICU support provided in 14 rooms
  • No nurse aides or patient care techs on unit; charge nurse present each shift
  • Navy blue scrubs are required
  • RNs are expected to work collaboratively to address unit challenges and ensure quality patient care
  • Classroom and two 12-hour unit orientation shifts provided
  • Orientation includes a skills exam on procedures learned
  • Artificial nails are not permitted for patient care staff; refusal will terminate contract
  • Candidates must submit requests for time off (maximum 7 days) before assignment begins; additional time off requests will not be approved
  • Assignment is not open to current full-time, part-time, or PRN Common Spirit employees
  • Holiday coverage is rotated fairly among all staff
Requirements
  • Current NE or compact RN license in hand at time of application; pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
  • Active ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Must be able to provide a valid driver’s license to confirm residence outside a 50-mile radius
  • May not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any Common Spirit facility in the past year
  • Successful completion of a pass/fail open book skills exam with minimum 90% required during orientation
  • Two references:
    One supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
