Director of Nurse Anesthesia Program

Location:

Methodist College, 720 N. 87th St., Omaha, NE

Job Summary

Administrative and operational oversight for the CRNA program including hiring of faculty, curriculum development, accreditation requirements, and program evaluation. The candidate must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and efficiently accomplish goals.

Schedule

Mon – Fri, with occasional weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with college leadership, including the Dean of Nursing and Director of the DNP program, regarding doctoral student issues and policies.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting COA accreditation requirements.
  • Prepare and administer the program’s budget, in collaboration with college leadership and financial staff.
  • Work in collaboration with the program assistant director and program faculty to ensure quality program curriculum, instruction, and programmatic evaluation in the didactic phase of the program.
  • Lead the initial and continued accreditation of the program by Council on Accreditation (COA) and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Provide didactic instruction in the nurse anesthesia program.
  • Supervise hiring, evaluation, and mentorship of Nurse Anesthesia Program assistant director, faculty, and adjunct faculty.
  • Coordinate orientation of new faculty members to the Nurse Anesthesia program.
  • Oversee nurse anesthesia‑specific course management, development, implementation, evaluation to provide appropriate learning experiences for students, teaching, skills labs, student advisement, and student formative and summative evaluation.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders on program progress and evaluation.
  • In conjunction with program faculty, engage with clinical sites to ensure both breadth and depth of student clinical experiences.
  • Supervise Nurse Anesthesia Program Evaluation process.
  • Coordinate and prepare correspondence to maintain communication with the academic community, health care institutions, state and federal governments, councils and agencies that have direct impact on the school process.
  • Serve on the Nursing Assessment Team and the Graduate Team committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DNP, DNAP, or EdD) from an accredited institution of higher education.
Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of practice as a CRNA.
  • Experience in classroom instruction or nursing program leadership.
  • Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of curricular design including experience in distance education and development of quality online programs (preferred).
  • Prior experience with program accreditation processes (preferred).
  • Prior experience with evaluation and outcomes assessment (preferred).
License/Certification
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) issued by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure.
  • APRN‑Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (APRN‑CRNA) license in Nebraska upon hire.
  • Eligible for the Controlled Substance Registration Certification (CSRC) through the DEA. Certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Active member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology.

  • Strong communicator with customer service skills.
  • Exceptional team building, collaborative, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in software applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and internet and database applications such as Typhon Clinical Tracking System.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Some travel may be necessary, including overnight travel on occasion for practicum site visits and professional development.
