Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) (Registered Nurse/RN)
Position Summary:
The RN - Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Services department to ensure the highest degree of quality patient care in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
- ASN or BSN from an accredited college or university
- Currently licensed/registered in the applicable State with an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment
- Two (2) years of geriatric nursing experience preferred, preferably in post-acute care
- CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation, maintained current during employment
Job Requirements
- Maintains liaison with patients, families, and support departments to adequately plan for patient needs
- Expert knowledge in field of practice
- Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Knowledgeable of practices and procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in post-acute care facility
- Implements and interprets programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
- Performs proficiently in all competency areas including nursing care, supervisory responsibilities, infection control, patient rights, safety and sanitation
- Maintains professional working relationships with associates, vendors, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
- Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing mandatory training
- Assist DON in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the Nursing Services department
- Interview, select, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise nursing staff
- Assist with overseeing care provided by nursing staff
- Oversee infection control responsibilities
- Assume duties of DON in absence
- Provide direct nursing care as necessary
- Perform functions of a staff nurse as required
- Exhibit excellent customer service and positive attitude towards patients
- Assist in evacuation of patients
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on interdisciplinary team
- Maintain physical activity such as sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, move throughout work hours
- Read, write, speak, and understand English language
