Overview
Conductix-Wampfler, a leading global manufacturer in the mobile electrification market, is looking to add a career-minded machinist to their team. We are seeking someone with a quality-focused and continuous improvement mindset. In this position, you will assist with daily production and scheduling and setup of both CNC and conventional machines. You will work with a variety of materials and components and handle special setups for customer projects.
This is a 2nd shift position.
- Set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts, following duties including studying blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Measure, mark, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece for guiding subsequent machining.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and drill presses.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors or input/edit computerized machine control data.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust controls as required.
- Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
- Set up and operate machine on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed data.
- Assemble parts into complete assemblies and verify dimensions and alignment of assemblies.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Experience with building fixtures for drilling, milling, and turning.
- Check the accuracy of inputs from engineering, sales, and manufacturing offices to ensure customer final product is correct and within quality guidelines; communicate changes or corrections to appropriate departments for future output consistency.
- Support and sustain 5S program initiatives and goals; uphold quality and EHS policy and core values.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience
- Associate s degree (A.
A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and two years related experience and/or training; or a minimum of four years of job shop related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Or certification of completion of a Certified Apprenticeship Program
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business and technical procedures. Ability to write. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
