Responsibilities
  • Safely and skillfully operate a milling machine to mill asphalt/concrete surfaces following all standard equipment procedures
  • Maintains equipment in proper operating condition by performing simple preventive maintenance and repair tasks such as adjusting, fluid checks, replacing minor parts and lubricating equipment
  • Responsible for daily checks of the milling drum, conveyors and water supply systems
  • Responsible for daily inspection and replacement of milling teeth on the milling drum to assure proper cutting patterns on pavement surfaces
  • Must maintain an acute sense of awareness to the surrounding footprint of the machine (watch for obstructions while operating the equipment, such as trees, utilities, curb and gutters)
  • Maintain constant visual contact with co-workers on the ground and trucks in front of the machine
  • May perform general laborer duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a mill operator or similar role is preferred
  • Strong understanding of safety practices and regulations in construction environments
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery with precision and care
  • Demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Adaptability to work in various weather conditions and physical environments
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and learn new skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening
