Maintenance Technician

Full Time – Hourly

Base pay range: $22.40 per hour.

Eligibility
  • Not require employer sponsorship for a work visa.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
Purpose of Position

Perform advanced repair and preventative maintenance of various equipment, systems, and buildings associated with turkey production. Enhance internal and external customer expectations.

Principle Accountabilities
  • Assist with job and safety training of employees and temporary employees.
  • Communicate with supervisors, coworkers, team members, and outside vendors positively and respectfully.
  • Work independently and take direction from the Maintenance Lead.
  • Comply with and enforce safety requirements and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Assist in Annual Farm Safety Compliance Audits.
  • Be knowledgeable of and enforce biosecurity policies and procedures.
  • Prioritize work and work efficiently under time constraints.
  • Maintain shop parts room and inventory.
  • Set up new equipment and participate in decision making of new equipment and systems.
  • Interpret and maintain National Electrical Code, State Plumbing Code, and DNR licensing for water well installation.
  • Diagnose and perform repairs and calibrations on electromechanical devices.
  • Diagnose and repair chemical distribution systems and environmental controls.
  • Perform oxygen/acetylene cutting and brazing.
  • Assist farms in preventive maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
  • Operate farm equipment when needed.
Priorities
  • Priority A:
    Barn’s Environmental Management – feed, water, lighting, ventilation.
  • Priority B:
    Product Environmental Management – fogger units, vaporizer units, chemical distribution.
  • Priority C:
    Employee Safety Management – related to A and

    B.
  • Priority D:
    Fire Safety Management – equipment and barns.
  • Priority E:
    Light Carpentry Management – barns.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Three years of verifiable experience in repairs of equipment and facilities associated with poultry production, or a vocational/technical degree in maintenance technology.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing workload and inventories.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license with good vehicle operating records.
  • Able to work five days per week with varied hours per day and after hours for emergencies.
  • Understand and perform computer functions with alarm and ventilation controllers.
  • In good physical condition; able to perform repetitive lifting, bending, twisting, and climbing in hot or dusty environments.
  • Performance results meeting expectations in attendance, performance, behavior, and safety (internal or previous employer).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational degree related to agricultural confinement building systems and maintenance, and four years of verifiable experience in poultry production facility repair.
  • Ability to use computer software such as Excel and Windows.
  • Successful completion of Supervisory and Management Skill Training Program.
  • Exceeding performance results in attendance, performance, behavior, and safety (internal or previous employer).
