Police Athletics for Community Engagement (PACE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable athletic opportunities for youth, regardless of financial background. PACE promotes physical activity, teamwork, and personal growth through partnerships with local emergency response teams, including police and fire departments, to strengthen community engagement and reduce crime.
POSITION SUMMARYThe Maintenance Technician plays an important role in supporting PACE’s mission by ensuring our fields and facilities are safe, welcoming, and ready for youth programs, practices, games, and community events. This position supports daily operations through hands‑on maintenance work and collaboration with PACE staff and community partners throughout the season.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform and oversee maintenance operations for all PACE‑managed fields, facilities, and property
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine maintenance of PACE equipment
- Track and manage maintenance equipment and supply inventory
- Maintain storage areas used for maintenance equipment and materials
- Clean, service, and perform basic upkeep on equipment as needed
- Maintain grass fields, including mowing, aerating, and weed control
- Prepare fields for practices and games, including dragging baseball infields and painting/chalking field lines
- Clean and restock facilities, including restrooms and common areas
- Open and close facilities as required
- Assist PACE staff with special projects as needed
- Coordinate with City of Omaha Parks and Recreation employees on joint projects when required
- Manage facility keys and locks, excluding those managed by the City of Omaha
- Transport PACE equipment to designated areas around the city
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, outdoor environment
- Flexible availability, including nights and weekends as needed
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a community‑focused environment
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions, safety guidelines, and organizational policies
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and community partners
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing the organization
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 60 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
This is a seasonal, part‑time position working 24–32 hours per week. This position does not include benefits. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
