Mooney, Lenaghan, Westberg Dorn, L.L.C., an Omaha-based insurance defense firm, is expanding and looking for talented Litigation Associate Attorneys. We have immediate opportunities in both Workers’ Compensation and Medical Malpractice Defense

Responsibilities- Independently handles caseload of complex litigation defense matters, including case evaluation, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
- Exhibits superior written and oral advocacy skills.
- Maintains the highest level of professional and ethical standards.
- Reviews file materials upon case assignment and provides a detailed analysis of legal issues and a well-reasoned plan of action.
- Prepares pleadings, persuasive motions, briefs and legal memoranda, discovery,summaries, andtrial/appellate briefs to further defense strategy.
- Analyzes complex legal and medical issues, conducts appropriate research, and prepares research memoranda for clients.
- Represents clients at court hearings, jury trials, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, mediations, and other proceedings.
- Conduct and defend depositions of parties, experts, and medical professionals.
- Timely updates clients regarding significant case events, strategies, and exposure changes.
- Effectively and timely negotiates settlement for optimal outcome.
- Participates in Claims reviews, round tables, and conference calls with clients.
- Analyze medical records and collaborate closely with expert witnesses.
- Experience:
1 or more years of experience litigating Workers' Compensation cases - 3-5+ of experience litigating Medical Malpractice Defense cases
- Active Nebraska and Iowa law license (Medical Malpractice)
