Our Underwriting Assistant reviews new and/or renewal policies and applications for acceptability and profitability within Company’s guidelines. The position includes receiving, recording, and assigning new underwriting submissions to Underwriters, as well as assisting with new and renewal accounts by entering information into rating software.

This position will be located in the Omaha, NE office and is eligible for hybrid work after completion of training.

• Review and record new business submissions into Image Right for Underwriting; determine which underwriter is responsible for the risk based on territory, agency, and other criteria, then assign the risk.
• Identify and/or review proper classification of risk and may enter risk into rating software for underwriter review for new business submissions.
• Examine and evaluate inspection reports, MVRs, loss data, audits, and other available information to determine degree of risk and identify improvements or the need for termination, providing recommendations to Underwriters.
• Communicate with Company Underwriters and Agents to provide quotes, instructions, obtain supplemental underwriting information, and secure necessary signed forms and other assistance as needed.

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent and two years of college coursework or equivalent education.
• Proficiency with personal computer software such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
• 2‑3 years of related work experience.
• Basic understanding of insurance terminology.
• Excellent customer service skills.

• Strong aptitude in mathematics.
