Solution Architect
SummaryServes as a bridge between key business stakeholders and the Business Technology organization. Effectively collaborates and communicates to develop a close working relationship with Application owners, developers, and system administrators. Evaluates all business requirements to determine how different elements of business, information, and technology can be applied to solve a specific problem while adhering to enterprise architecture and security standards and definitions.
Assists in defining the scope of a project by outlining technical components and parameters, identifying applications and interfaces, and documenting these components. Helps to mature cloud practices across the enterprise, enhance our cloud strategy, and provide technical leadership supporting in cloud efforts. Actively leads a technical vision from concept to completion.
- Creates and delivers working, production-ready reference implementations that can be leveraged easily by Agile teams.
- Works closely with the product managers, product owners and Enterprise Architecture peers (enterprise, solution, business process, security, data and application architects) to enable infrastructure agility, scalability and resilience to support required product needs throughout product lifecycle.
- Socialize the Enterprise Architecture process across the enterprise and lead the communication activities needed to ensure enterprise success and use.
- Directs, coaches and mentors team members to ensure engagement and productivity levels are maintained; sets clear objectives and compares deliverables against objectives. Leads other Architects in Practice.
- Leads and drives software modernization efforts across the organization.
- Provides leadership and guidance on establishing a cloud reference architecture used by cross-functional teams to create and implement technical solutions that address business problems or support new business-driven initiatives.
- Collaborates with technical subject matter experts and Enterprise Architecture peers to develop technology architecture that enables and drives new business capabilities and operating models.
- Provides the bridge between customers, business analysts, development leads, project managers and platform managers.
- Consults on application or infrastructure development projects to compare systems or infrastructure with the enterprise architecture and identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise technical architecture to accommodate immediate or future project needs.
- Works with Enterprise Architecture peers (enterprise, solution, business process, application, data, and security architects) to analyze enterprise business context (business strategy and trends), as well as evaluate requirements in other enterprise architecture viewpoints (such as business, information, and solution) to derive the future state technology architecture. This includes defining the requirements, principles and models that guide technology decisions at the software product level.
- Participates in the analysis of the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement. In addition, analyzes the technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on technology architecture.
- Drives digital innovation by leveraging innovative new technologies and approaches to renovate, extend, and transform the existing core technology base and IT estate. Utilizes high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the future and current state, typically in sync with the IT budgeting or other capital planning processes.
- Develops/applies technical expertise and business acumen in Microsoft cloud offering to promote innovative solutions.
- Understands technology trends and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
- Participates in the evaluation of technology investment decisions based on the analysis needed to drive targeted business outcomes. Works with the enterprise architect to define metrics to measure and demonstrate enterprise technology value.
- Collaborates on the research, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
- Identifies the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures and culture) and financial impact of the enterprise technology architecture.
- Analyzes business context, as well as change requirements in other architecture viewpoints and integration architecture to derive the solutions architecture future state.
- Capable of producing software-based Proof of Technology and business based proof of Concepts to validate and innovate new ways of thinking and working with technology that can support potentially provide new opportunities to the business.
