Release Services Engineer
OPPD's Release Services Engineer is accountable for managing the implementation release process from development through execution, verifying that each release meets all governance requirements and follows defined procedures, and supporting release deployments to meet stakeholder needs and expectations. The Release Services Engineer works with Application Services, Application Support, and Quality Assurance to ensure the integrity of the development, quality assurance, test, and production environments and uses subject matter expertise to help technical teams identify technical issues and resolve production incidents while advancing technologies, tools, and processes to facilitate automation of releases.
Responsibilities- Release Services Operations:
- Maintaining a centralized application component catalog;
- Maintaining standardized source code and release repositories;
- Maintaining access to the release repositories;
- Verifying that releases are planned, documented, coordinated, communicated, executed, and validated in accordance with Release Services requirements;
- Executing scheduled release deployments between environments (development, quality, assurance, user acceptance testing, production);
- Supporting technical teams to identify and resolve deployment failures or issues;
- Responsibility for lifecycle management of Release Services build and deployment tools;
- Driving automation efforts related to Release Services;
- Collaborating with technical teams and business partners to establish application specific release windows;
- Providing training and guidance on Release Management governance standards and processes;
- Strategy & Planning:
- Participating in the development and maintenance of Release Services governance standards and procedures;
- Participating in the development and maintenance of Release Services roadmap;
- Participating in project management and budget cycle meetings by providing estimates for Release Services resources;
- Identifying and championing continuous process improvement efforts including performing data queries, analysis, reporting and trending;
- Product Acquisition & Deployment:
- Participating in product selection sessions to assess services, applications, or systems against OPPD Release Services standards and non-functional requirements.
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field (foreign equivalent accepted) and 3 years' experience in software development or software engineering, or a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field (foreign equivalent accepted) and 5 years' experience in software development or software engineering.
Required experience must also include experience in:
- Unix, Linux, Windows, Python, and Groovy;
- Dev Ops, Agile, PMP, and Waterfall frameworks and best practices;
- Bitbucket, Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, Red Hat Ansible, and Mulesoft.
