Shift: First Shift (United States of America). Shift Details:
Full Time (36 hours/ week). Nights ). Days ). 5 West is a 40-bed non specialty med-surg unit caring for patients ages 18 and older. The staff cares for a variety of medical and telemetry patients with acute and/or chronic illness, such as sepsis, respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, cardiac disease, and COVID-19. Staff members will manage titratable drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, complex wound care, post-bariatric procedures, high oxygen delivery systems and end-of-life care.
5 West is known as the “5 West Wolfpack” because of its outstanding teamwork. Its centralized nursing station allows staff to build camaraderie, learn and grow together. The culture and close‑knit environment on 5 West make this unit ideal for new and experienced nurses. It is the only unit in the hospital to have a Zen room, which features a massage chair, adult coloring books and other materials to support staff who need to reset their mindset.
My Job in a Minute – Nursing in a Team Based Care Model –
Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient`s plan of care.
- Minimum of 16 years of age required.
- Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
- Based on department need, Medication Aide certification and completion of an Injectables course may be required after hire in outpatient settings.
- Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
