Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm; may require evening, weekend, and holiday work depending on research needs.
A Research Nurse I/RRT manages the clinical courses of research volunteers according to protocol, assessing physical health and administering treatments as needed throughout the study.
Responsibilities- Collect necessary data through patient interviews, including past medical history, present illness, social history, family history, and medication history.
- Coordinate and document all aspects of research patient care, including telephone contact with patients or their families, conversations with the research team, and all medical providers involved, ensuring a comprehensive, consistent approach.
- Transcribe data accurately to case report forms for database entry; coordinate laboratory specimen processing and handling with appropriate lab supervisors.
- Maintain confidential records of participants in accordance with FDA and NIH regulations.
- Assist in maintaining statistics on patient status.
- Perform phlebotomy, vital signs, throat cultures, and other procedures within the scope of nursing practice, as directed by specific protocols; initiate laboratory tests defined within the protocols.
- Manage laboratory abnormalities and adverse events as directed by protocols and notify the Principal Investigator when appropriate.
- Degree in Nursing.
- Two or more years of clinical experience; experience in a research setting preferred.
- State of NE RN license or a compact state license.
- Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) certification preferred.
