Position: Staff RN - Bedside - PICU - Part time/Days

Overview

Schedule: 7a-7:30pm with weekend and holiday rotation - 24hrs

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates professional nursing and individualized, family-centered care to patients/families through the use of the nursing process and clinical skills in accordance with standards and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Admission Assessment: collects and documents data related to patient’s individualized care; demonstrates age-specific competency in assessment; assesses patient/family education needs and involvement; identifies nursing diagnoses and plans of care at admission.
  • Shift Assessment/Reassessment: performs reassessments per unit standards, protocols, and changes in patient condition; communicates changes to MD, Charge RN, and family as indicated.
  • Cath Lab: schedules cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures with patient/family; works with OR staff; obtains permits for catheterization procedures after teaching patient/family about the procedure and potential complications.
  • Documentation: collects data on patient response to procedures; documents and enters data into appropriate medical records; ensures timely and accurate charting.
  • Cath lab/Procedural support: circulates in procedures following AORN guidelines; assists at bedside in patient preparation; applies critical thinking in catheterization procedures and prioritizes interventions based on ongoing assessment.
  • Care planning: develops individualized patient/family plans of care using CPG/NDs and practice guidelines; coordinates goals with patient/family and healthcare team; revises plans based on condition and needs.
  • Implementation and evaluation: implements and evaluates nursing actions; ensures coordination of the plan of care; uses interdisciplinary resources as needed; provides patient/family education.
  • Documentation and compliance: ensures accurate medical record entries, timely completion of care plans, discharge instructions, and related documentation.
  • Professional conduct: regular attendance is essential; supports team, mentors students and new staff, and accepts assigned tasks professionally.
Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Associate’s Degree in Nursing (Required) or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Required).
  • Experience
    :
    Minimum 1 year RN experience (Required); pediatric patient experience preferred; EPIC experience preferred.
  • Skills
    :
    Ability to perform a variety of duties, manage competing priorities, and work under pressure with strong prioritization skills.
Licenses and Certifications
  • RN - State Licensure/Compact State Licensure current and valid in Nebraska (Required on hire)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (Required on hire)
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (except NICU) within 180 days (Required)
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation (NICU only) within 180 days (Required)
  • ACLS - within 9 months of hire (Cath Lab and ED only) (Required)
  • ENPC - Emergency Nursing Pediatric Certification (ED only) within 1 year (Required)
  • TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course (ED only) within 1 year (Required)
  • Radiology Nursing training and competencies for RNs in Radiology Nursing area (Required)
