Work Schedule:
28‑40 hours per week. Variable schedule to include a variety of shifts.
Nebraska Methodist Health System is proud to offer a comprehensive Student Nurse Summer Fellowship for senior‑level nursing students graduating between December 2026 and May 2027. The program is designed to support a smooth transition into safe, competent, and professional practice. Through a structured and collaborative model, fellows participate in job shadowing, precepted clinical experiences, informal mentoring, and guided debriefing sessions to help build confidence and clinical readiness.
- Work one‑on‑one with experienced nurses in a variety of settings across the continuum of care.
- Develop clinical skills through real‑world, hands‑on experience.
- Gain confidence and insight into interdisciplinary teamwork and the collaborative dynamics of patient care.
- Immerse yourself in our hospital culture, where support, learning, and compassion guide every interaction.
This 8‑week program will run May 18, 2026 – July 10, 2026.
Applications due February 15, 2026.
Helps patients by supporting personal hygiene and daily living needs, providing comfort, transportation, and vital sign monitoring.

- Provide appropriate care specific to the age of the customer/patient, to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Age Specific Criteria.
- Give individualized customer service/patient care.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal relations with patients, co‑workers, physicians, and guests to ensure effective communications.
- Respond to patient needs promptly and courteously.
- Obtain feedback from patients and visitors regarding their hospital experience.
- Communicate patient issues to the appropriate staff.
- Maintain a positive attitude while responding to requests in a timely and accurate manner.
- Communicate with other health‑care team members (food service, secretaries, housekeeping, etc.) as indicated.
- Actively participate in the report process.
- Complete clinical activities identified in the patient's plan of care to meet patients' comfort/activity/sleep needs and other clinical needs as delegated by professional staff.
- Report patient comfort needs to nurse in a timely manner.
- Ensure skin is clean and dry.
- Report any noticed skin changes.
- With oversight and/or direction, provide personal care and assist with ADL (activities of daily living).
- Assist with repositioning, turning, and chair transfers.
- Assist with ambulation as necessary.
- Complete vital signs per patient's plan of care.
- Weigh patients per patient’s plan of care.
- Reinforce patient education.
- Provide transportation assistance.
- Report any variation from patient's plan of care to professional staff.
- Attend to patient amenities such as newspaper and mail.
- Document all data collected in Cerner and/or on worksheets, accurately, completely, and in a timely manner to provide an accurate record of patient activities and response to activities.
- Documentation is completed on an ongoing basis prior to end of shift.
- Documentation reflects patient's responses to activities according to patient's plan of care.
