Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Dosimetrist, you will work under the supervision of the Lead Physicist to assist the Radiation Oncologist in providing safe and effective treatment to radiation therapy patients. You will perform specific duties under the overall direction of medical physicists and direct supervision of the Lead Medical Physicist, ensuring precise treatment planning and delivery. The role also requires renewing credentials annually and adhering to ethical standards.

• Design accurate treatment plans by computer and/or manual computation that delivers prescribed radiation doses as prescribed by the treating radiation oncologist.
• Perform, verify and document calculations for the delivery of the prescribed dose and maintain accuracy of calculations using guidelines established by the medical physicist.
• Assist in the simulation process to ensure optimal patient position, immobilization, and adequate scans for treatment planning.
• Participate in aspects of high and low dose brachytherapy procedures, including implanting brachytherapy devices, planning, calculations, and quality assurance measures in compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations.
• Assist in quality improvement and quality assurance programs/procedures to ensure the accuracy and safety of treatments.
• Participate in continuing education of treatment planning techniques, current advances in medical dosimetry, and the clinical development and implementation of new therapy techniques in the department.

• Bachelor of Science in a closely related field and prior radiation therapy experience, upon hire.
• Certified Medical Dosimetrist within 6 months of hire.
• Registered Technologist, Radiation Therapy, upon hire.

• Basic Life Support – CPR, upon hire.

$47.29 – $70.35 per hour
