Respiratory Therapist - PRN - Bellevue Medical Center
Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Respiratory Therapist at Bellevue Medical Center. Shift: Third Shift. PRN | Casual | 0.0 FTE.
OverviewPosition highlights include providing advanced pulmonary care as part of a comprehensive team delivering high-quality patient care across care settings.
Responsibilities- Responsible for patient care assessment, critical thinking and knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
- Develop and implement effective patient care, treatment, and cardiopulmonary disease management plans.
- Provide routine and complex respiratory therapy procedures in emergent, acute, surgical, chronic or long-term care settings for a variety of patient populations.
- Participate in patient education and coordinating discharge planning; may involve research and patient study coordination; pulmonary rehabilitation; newborn transport; pulmonary diagnostic testing; and sleep diagnostic management.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Graduation from an AMA-approved respiratory care program with an associate's degree or equivalent education meeting certification and licensure requirements.
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (LRCP) from the State of Nebraska;
Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from NBRC;
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential within 6 months of hire. - Effective communication skills; ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork and flexibility.
- American Heart Association - Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Position/department may require ACLS, PALS and NRP upon completion of orientation.
- Direct patient care experience; prior experience in respiratory acute or intensive care preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience with laboratory devices, monitoring devices, specialized gas therapy, arterial line insertion, intubations, diagnostic procedures, and transport training may be preferred depending on position.
- Competence with all ages; proficiency with Office applications and EHR systems; 24-hour on-call accountability may be preferred depending on position.
