Histotechnician II HT ASCP - Full Time - Days

Position at Nebraska Methodist Health System.

Location:

Nebraska Methodist Hospital, 8303 Dodge Street, Omaha, NE.

Work Schedule:

Day Shift Mon‑Fri with rotating weekends (start times 4 am‑8 am).

• Process, embed, cut, and stain tissue sections for pathologist microscopic examination.
• Perform routine H&E and special stains meeting quality standards.
• Accurately perform and evaluate staining quality of patient tissue slides.
• Ensure no block exhaustion or unacceptable slide quality issues.
• Use organization and prioritization skills to meet workload demands.
• Complete quality control and quality assurance activities 100%.
• Maintain PPE compliance 100% and routine maintenance documentation.
• Assist in training new and existing staff and maintain training documentation.
• Perform titrations on all existing immunohistochemical reagents per policies.
• Assist in inspection, proficiency testing and maintain accreditation records.
• Maintain open communication internally and externally; respond professionally to flexibility requests.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  Successful completion of an approved histotechnician or histotechnologist program or an associate's degree with at least 12 credit hours in biology and chemistry.
• Experience:
  
  1 year preferred, 3 years preferred.
• License/
  
  Certifications:
  
  National certification as a Histotechnician (HT.ASCP) required.
• Computer skills required.
