Complete assessments and develop individual treatment programs to restore, remediate and rehabilitate a person's level of functioning and independence in life.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate ability to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs.
- Provide patient focused treatments to achieve maximum functional improvement.
- Evaluate the patients rehabilitation and functional needs.
- Set goals, and implement treatment plan components established through these findings.
- Deliver therapy services to the patient based on the patient's assessed needs, physician orders, and patient preferences.
- Contribute to the interdisciplinary care plan by documenting evaluations, setting and revising goals, evaluating and documenting progress, and participating in patient conferences.
- Maintain positive relationships with patients and families/significant others, ensuring patient satisfaction through effective communication and involvement in treatment goal planning.
- Support the patient care team by exchanging information and coordinating treatment plan components, and developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with physicians and other health care team members.
- Contribute to quality improvement by assisting in the development of new clinical programs and evaluating and revising clinical care processes.
- Maintain knowledge of current treatment practices by reading appropriate books and journals, giving presentations, and attending approved seminars and conferences.
- Baccalaureate degree in Recreational Therapy required.
- Must have 9 to 12 months clinical experience in acute or long‑term care setting.
- National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS) required.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
- Ability to evaluate, treat, and develop treatment plan components for physically, cognitively and/or mentally impaired adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.
- Medium Work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
- Occasionally performed (1–33%):
Climbing, crawling, crouching, keyboarding/typing, kneeling, sitting. - Frequently performed (34–66%):
Balancing, carrying, distinguishing colors, fingering/Touching, grasping, lifting, pulling/pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking/talking, standing, stooping/bending, twisting, walking. - Constantly performed (67–100%):
Hearing, sitting.
