Position Summary
The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Nurses in the examination and treatment of patients Lead Medical Assistant has the additional responsibility of assisting the Director of Nursing in maintaining optimal clinic flow.
Responsibilities- Interview patients to obtain chief complaints, pain assessments and vital signs.
- Assist providers with examinations and therapeutic procedures.
- Assist with minor surgical procedures.
- Conduct patient education.
- Completes lab requisitions, referrals and other chart forms.
- Schedules appointments for patients at outside agencies.
- Administers oral, SQ, & IM medications per a provider’s orders.
- Perform in-house lab tests & EKG’s.
- Venipuncture and proper handling of specimens.
- Make sure all staff stock exam rooms.
- Cleans and sterilizes equipment; maintains a clean and hygienic environment.
- Assist with inventory and requisitioning of supplies.
- Daily Staff/Provider Assignments.
- Make sure daily productivity is documented in the productivity log book.
- Make sure exam rooms are clean and equipment is removed, in preparation for the next day of clinic.
- Cover co‑workers duties and/or shift in his/her absence or assign duties to another co‑worker (controls, sterilization, faxes).
- Assist with training of new employees and students.
- Other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
- Education:
Completion of Medical Assistant; MA Certification Preferred - Experience:
1–2 years as a Medical Assistant - Expertise:
Strong interpersonal skills - Language:
English fluency
- Proficient verbal skills.
- Ability to use office and medical equipment.
- Microsoft applications, internet and email.
- Good record keeping methods.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to relate to a diverse group of people.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm and Saturday, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, based on clinic need.

Additionally, the employee may occasionally be exposed to blood‑borne and other hazardous chemicals. Finally, the noise level in the work environment can seldom be quite loud.
In all cases personal protective equipment will be provided to the employee in combination with adequate ventilation and other engineering controls to minimize the risk of exposure or other hazardous occurrence.
