Position Overview

B2 Environmental (B2E), a UES company, is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to perform environmental inspections and monitoring across the Great Plains region. The role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands‑on work and are eager to grow their technical and communication skills in a supportive, fast‑paced environment. The position involves working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, with frequent travel of 2 to 3 weeks at a time.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct on‑site investigations for asbestos, lead‑paint, mold, and other regulated materials.
  • Provide oversight and air monitoring during the removal of asbestos, lead‑paint, mold, and other regulated materials.
  • Perform indoor air quality investigations and industrial hygiene testing.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment for sampling events.
  • Conduct visual inspections of equipment in indoor and outdoor industrial settings.
  • Compile, document, and report field data using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Assist with general proposal and report writing related to environmental and industrial hygiene projects.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or coursework in construction, engineering, geology, or a related field is a plus.
  • 0‑3 years of experience in a field‑based, outdoor, or physically demanding role preferred (construction, materials testing, geotechnical, or related industry experience is a plus).
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to operate company‑assigned vehicles safely.
  • Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing, or ability to obtain within a specified time period.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, following OSHA standards and company safety policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Field Data Collection (FDC) software or similar industry tools.
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints, procedures, manuals, technical documents, and reports related to drilling, safety, and project requirements.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, and working in various weather and environmental conditions.
  • Efficient time management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate sample collection, testing procedures, and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to producing high‑quality results.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including early mornings, weekends, overtime, and potential overnight travel as project demands require.
  • 0‑5+ years of experience (entry‑level to experienced).
  • Excellent reading, writing, computer (Windows/Microsoft Office), and communication skills.
  • Current training is a plus but not required (examples:
    Asbestos AHERA Inspector, Lead Sampling Technician, Mold Sampling Technician, OSHA Safety, HAZWOPER, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet objectives.
  • Current valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check as required by clients.
  • Ability to operate heavy construction equipment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of general building construction is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/QCAD is a plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions including wet, humid, extreme cold, heat, dusty, and noisy environments.
  • Field work on outdoor construction sites involving long periods of standing and potentially repetitive motions.
  • Role is approximately 90% field work and 10% office work.
  • Ability to use senses including vision (close, distant, peripheral, depth), smell, hearing, and touch.
  • Ability to reach, climb, balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel, and sit as needed.
