Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently seeking a Wastewater Treatment Business Class Leader to support HDR’s Water Business Group Manager, Wastewater Market Sector Lead, and Client Development Lead activities in Nebraska and Iowa, including managing people and technical implementation of wastewater treatment projects. The Business Class Lead will be responsible for personnel management including performance reviews, salary adjustments, staff selection, development and morale; identifying, obtaining and assigning appropriate resources to projects to meet budget, schedule and scope requirements;

quality control; and supporting pursuits and opportunities with new and existing clients. The successful candidate will demonstrate an outgoing personality with strong people and organizational skills, with a wide variety of project types and experience with multiple clients.

As the Wastewater Treatment Business Class Lead (BCL) you will interface with regional and national technology leaders to advance local capabilities. Specifically, you will support project teams to pursue and complete wastewater projects including planning, permitting, engineering design, and construction phase engineering services. You will also be expected to engage in industry groups and conferences.

Staff Development
  • Select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel.
  • Manage and develop multidisciplinary teams.
  • Take responsibility for operations of production section including utilization, morale, quality control, and marketing support.
  • Implement, monitor, and support company policy.
  • Supervise engineers and junior staff including time/expense approvals, monitoring utilization, workload planning, annual performance conversations, and similar responsibilities.
Technical Excellence
  • Function as the Project Manager on major wastewater infrastructure projects. The Business Class Lead will be directly responsible for compliance with all internal and contractual requirements associated with producing the project deliverables, QA/QC program compliance, budget and schedule monitoring and reporting, and client service management.
  • Take responsibility for area coordination, monitoring and improvement of technical competencies of business class staff and products.
  • See that all work is planned, organized, controlled, and evaluated through proactive project management.
  • Collaborate on business class efforts with area operations, marketing, project managers, and project delivery staff.
  • Participate in business class practice and professional discipline groups, project teams, and activities to continually improve standards and best practices, and implement effective quality assurance and quality control reviews.
  • Conduct QC reviews where appropriate or assist technical teams in finding appropriate reviewers.
Business Development
  • Support Market Sector Lead and Client Development Lead in marketing planning, proposals, and interviews.
  • Participate in business class strategic planning, budgeting and plan implementation.
  • Drive area initiatives that are relative to the business class.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
